Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

This is a great little restaurant in Richmond which serves up Jewish breakfast and tasty lunch sandwiches. They are only open until 3:00 p.m. Combination platter, Schnorrer has a little bit of everything... Eggs, bagel with a smear, latke potato cakes and choice of meat and it comes with coffee. Highly recommend it! The Reuben sandwich is also very good here. The Perly patty melt is very good as well. The pastrami here is very tasty and juicy. Sandwiches here are really good since the bread is grilled bringing out the flavor in the sandwich.

My husband has made an excellent choice for our travel break, finding a fantastic eatery that's been a local favorite since 1961. The place holds a special charm, and its authenticity is unmistakable. The nostalgia it sparks is powerful, bringing tears to my husband's eyes as childhood memories flood back. To all food enthusiasts, we highly recommend this place; it's an experience worth every penny.

I went to Perly's on the suggestion of one of my friends and man it was amazing. I tried four different dishes and all were spectacular. The Benny Goodman was amazing and pretty unique in terms of a unique eggs Benedict. The vegetable knish had a delicious sauce that accompanied it. The matzo ball soup tasted just like it came out of a grandmother's kitchen. The chocolate babka was served warm and not too sweet. I will definitely be back.
