Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

Had lunch with a coworker and we shared some sesame chicken and egg rolls. The sesame chicken was sweet and simple and the egg rolls were big and crisp. The person serving us was polite and moved things along without any rush. The place felt casually comfortable and not too busy. Everything came out hot and ready to go. I would go back when I want a casual lunch without a fuss.

I am back in town for the holidays and SO glad to find Princess Garden was still open. It never fails to impress, and is well worth the drive from anywhere you may in Knsas City. The food is delicious and served in an "old timey" American Chinese restaurant vibe. My family ordered what we thought was way too much food and finished nearly all of it -- at a wonderful price, too. The Mapo Tofu was perfectly presented and generously portioned. Kung Pao Chicken is a lifetime favorite of mine; brings back childhood memories. I suggest both of these AND anything else that sounds intruiging. It's all good.

I started with the crab rangoon and peking duck carved tableside. the creaminess of the crab filling was excellent and the duck was tender with that classic crispy skin. the tableside carving added a special touch to the whole experience. the friendly staff and warm atmosphere made it feel like a real tradition. portions were generous, perfect even for sharing. i’ll definitely be back with family for those dishes again.
