Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

This visit was extremely disappointing and well below acceptable standards. The burger was undercooked and clearly raw in the center, which is unacceptable both in terms of quality and food safety. The fries tasted like they had been sitting out for a long time and were reheated, dry, lukewarm, and lacking any freshness. To make matters worse, the draft beer was served at room temperature, if not outright warm. That completely defeats the purpose of ordering draft beer and points to serious issues with bar service or temperature control. The golden melt wrap was also a letdown, containing only a tiny amount of bacon that did not come close to matching what was advertised on the menu. The only redeeming aspects of the experience were the servers, who were attentive and professional, and the mixed drinks, which were decent and properly made. Unfortunately, good service and cocktails cannot make up for poorly executed food and improperly served beer. Oh and the mushrooms were Okay at least they were hot. Whoever was cooking during this shift on January 30, 2026 at around 5:00 PM should not be running a kitchen until standards significantly improve. He/she/them need to be reevaluated. This place may have potential, but food safety, consistency, and basic execution need immediate attention before I would consider returning or recommending this place to anyone. Look for yourself with the pictures.

We've been going to Public House for years. Haven't been back in awhile due to a poor experience. Decided to go for brunch today and it was rough. We weren't greeted. We ended up sitting at the bar. Everything was in disarray. We ordered and waited for 15- 20 min until the crab dip came out. It was delicious. But our entrées didn't come out for another 45 -50 minutes after that. Once we did get them, it was luke warm and they had to be sent back. I was also disappointed in the serving size of my salmon, it's usually not the case. The server tried to recover by comping a few items but I am still in shock of how bad this visit was. To add insult to injury, I'm pretty sure the owners were there at the bar. Tables stayed dirty, weren't cleared for minutes, including their dishes that were in front of them. Today just felt like a walking health code violation. It saddens me to write this but the poor experiences seem to be outweighing the positive ones here.

Had a very uncomfortable experience here, start to finish. It was Valentine's Day, the place was busy but not packed. The hostess greeted us with disdain and asked if we had a reservation, she almost seemed disappointed that we did. They had our reservation down for the wrong amount of people but did work to accommodate us. We sit, we're surprised to find that there's a Valentine's Day menu and no regular items are served (we wish they would have told us that when we made the reservation) but we could understand how that would make the day go smoother. The place was cute, the seats were comfortable, but they crammed way more seating than they should have in that little space. Salad was nice and fresh. Warm bacon vinaigrette dressing was gross, tasted like beef consume, who wants warm beef broth concentrate on their salad? 🤢 I was expecting something similar to Rafferty's bacon honey mustard, it was not, not even a hint of vinaigrette in that dressing. Salad was good without it though. Our food started coming out and they looked good. Someone that wasn't our server brought our food out and did not do a very good job. She dropped a part of our meal on the floor and barely noticed nor cared enough to make it right. We were crammed at our table and had to ask her twice to take the salad dishes with her so we could have room for the rest of our meal. The pimento cheese dip was alright but the charred toast was So charred that the burnt taste overwhelmed the cheese. The kid's grilled cheese was also dry and we couldn't taste the cheese at all. No fries were available but the kettle chips were good. French onion soup was dry, like all the broth got boiled off from being kept warm too long. That was not soup. Shrimp and grits were sub par. Butterfly shrimp was just shrimp sliced in half; mini crab cake topping was seasoned well but had a very strong seafood taste; grits were cold. This came with a salad, the little pile of greens on the grits did not add to the meal at all. Seared salmon was decent and hot. This meal also came with a salad, not sure what the little pile of greens was supposed to do here either. Nobody at our table finished their meal. We had contemplated dessert but were so disappointed that we decided to go down the street for ice cream instead. The portions were closer to what a reasonable meal size should be but definitely over priced for what you're getting. I do not believe any of us will be looking to come back here any time soon.
