Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

Rakuzen Ramen House is such a cute little place, but it’s packed with flavor. This was my first time visiting, and from the moment we walked in, the server was very friendly, welcoming, and attentive, which made the experience even better. The decorations are beautiful, with lanterns and flowers throughout the space. The pink and red color scheme gives the restaurant a cozy, fun, and slightly whimsical feeling that makes it feel warm and inviting. They offer a wide variety of ramen, and we chose from their favorites menu. We ordered the Rakuzen Red and the Creamy Vegan ramen, and both were absolutely delicious. The crispy pork buns were also amazing, and I loved the little touch of having the restaurant’s logo stamped right on top of the bun. Overall, a great first visit and definitely a place I’d come back to.

I really enjoy Rakuzen! It's a bit out of the way for me (I live in Hazel Dell), so I don't get to come as often as I'd like. But whenever my husband and I are in the area it's always a nice treat! Their broth is light, but still creamy and flavorful. The regular noodles have a little chew to them which I really enjoy, but their vegan noodles weren't really to my taste. They had a nice flavor, but they were much too soft for me. Once you started chewing they basically turned to mush almost instantly. But still, it's nice they have a vegan option for those who need it! On a higher note, the vegan curry broth was so delicious! And the tofu?! I don't know what they do to it exactly, but I was in love! I'm not vegan (just vegetarian), but I'd really recommend both to anyone regardless of their dietary preferences. It's a small space, but still cozy for what it is. Though it might be difficult if you come in with a party larger than 8. The staff is always friendly and food never takes too long to start coming out. If you're in the area and haven't tried Rakuzen yet, I'd definitely recommend you give it a go! 🙌

I was very excited when I first saw the menu with all my favorite Japanese meals which made deciding on one tough. I settled on my overall favorite, tonkatsu ("crispy pork"), along with extra rice and mint green tea. First, the bagged mint green tea was too strong. I asked to exchange with normal green tea, which the waitress appeared reluctant to do but finally obliged which I appreciated. However, what I received still had lingering mint taste since they reused the same disposable paper cup which still confuses me. The main dish. At many Japanese restaurants, I'm used to receiving multiple slices or a large single cut of tonkatsu. Here, I received a small plate with such a thin cut that I was frankly amazed at their technical ability to prepare (bread and fry) non-existent meat that ended up resembling crispy bacon. At least I didn't have to worry about not having enough rice with the extra bowl I ordered (even the main plate had more rice than curry sauce). I wouldn't complain for a small price, but when I received my $21 bill with options for tips starting at 15%, I wished I could pen in a negative tip since I felt robbed.
