I had a grilled cheese with tomato soup and a london fog. Probably the best grilled cheese I've ever had! The drink was great too. It's on the pricier side, but a good value for the quality of the ingredients. The staff were very nice and I love their drinkware and atmosphere. I'd recommend if you want a quick lunch!

What a fun addition to Northfield! We were able to order immediately and watch our crepes be made right in front of us. A simple but interesting menu makes this cafe standout as a place to check out! The staff were knowledgeable, friendly and quickly whipped up our selections. We ordered the dill lox savory crepe (the dill sauce was amazing and such a unique flavor that pairs well with the salmon lox), the prosciutto and havarti savory crepe (we had the mustard in our crepe and would give a punch of flavor) and topped it off with the Boston Cream Sweet crepe (just the right amount of sweetness with the chocolate syrup and powdered sugar). The caramel latte was just as delicious and served in their eclectic coffee mugs gives a touch of whimsy. The atmosphere was cozy with a spattering of tables for two, a booth and a bar seating area near the bike shop. We plan to frequent here and try all the crepes they have to offer.

We’ve wandered down to Northfield many a Friday evening or late Sunday afternoon and been curious about this place…but it was always closed those hours. Thankfully, we had better timing this weekend and stepped inside. How fabulous to be able to buy Wonderstate Coffee from Viroqua, WI, in Northfield! I had the Canopy Dark flavor – it is excellent. Several were asking for the Peru San Fernando coffee, and they were out. So, it must be excellent, too. It was fun to watch fresh crepes being made right in front of us and the art of filling and folding them. The salmon one that is paired with dill is exceptional. So, very fresh tasting! I highly recommend them. There were no scones when we visited (I’ll try again), but the popovers were just baked. A simple but excellent nutritious menu makes this cafe a place you’ll want to try. The staff were helpful, friendly, and seemed proud of where they work – that says a lot. I love its homey atmosphere with the aprons hanging on the wall like we find the bakers and chefs wearing in Amish country. There is a row of side tables across from the ordering station, with additional booth and a bar seating in another room attached to the bike shop. We plan to visit again and try more versions of their coffee and crepes. It’s easy to find if you are strolling the downtown area. We’ve always been able to find a convenient street-side parking spot. However, it lacks clear exterior signage; the address is 422 Division St S, Northfield, MN 55057. Look for the Farmstead Bike Shop or bird sign along the sidewalk if you miss it.
