Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

I just had an incredible first experience at Rick’s Cafe. You can tell immediately that the kitchen staff is exceptionally talented and brings a special, diverse energy to the food. I had the Butternut Squash Gnocchi with a turmeric cream sauce, garnished with Parmesan and crushed pistachios. It’s rare to find a kitchen that can balance turmeric’s strength so perfectly with the sweetness of the squash and the saltiness of the nuts,it was a truly unique, well rounded dish. The service was just as impressive. The bartender was amazing and very interactive. I finished with the warm Oreo butter cake topped with ice cream, which was the perfect end to the meal. Hagerstown is lucky to have a spot with this much talent. Five stars all around!

From the front riks cafe looks like just another strip mall restaurant. But once you step inside its a relaxing enjoyable location with excellent drinks and food. Service was professional and knowledgable. The Rikarita was fantastic and i had to order a second one. The blackened crap grilled cheese was as if they took the true essence of what makes maryland a great place to live and made it a grilled cheese. Our waitress was fantastic and was highly knowledgable about the menu and recommendations. Left here feeling fat and happy!

This is definitely a hidden gem. Probably wouldnt have given this place a second glance had Google maps not recommended it because it's really dark and amongst some low budget shopping. But looks are deceiving! It's very welcoming inside. All the staff seemed genuinely happy to be working there and that alone speaks volumes. My waitress was polite and attentive without being overbearing. My main dish (crabby chicken) was definitely good but lacked anything exciting on the plate. It was a seasoned chicken fillet topped with a crab cake and crab dip on a bed of rice with blanched broccoli florets on the side. A more creative side dish would have taken this to the next level. The drinks were fantastic. No lack of creativity there. The chocolate cherry sangria was slightly sweet but not overly so. I also had a s'mores Martini that had a crushed graham cracker rim . That was pretty interesting. Don't skip the dessert! Take one home if anything . They bring out a tray for you to view. It's spectacular. I had a chocolate bomb (layers of mousse and cream). It was one of the best desserts I've had in a long time.
