Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

I can't believe I haven't been here yet! I am convinced this is the absolute best restaurant in Sioux Falls, it's exceptional. Not a word I have ever used for a restaurant here. I mean there's a lot of good options but Roots is another level. We equated it to feeling like you are on vacation right in the this Midwest city. I will start with service- everyone was super friendly and attentive and Raul was the best server we've had on a long time. He was fun, knowledgeable, and provided smart recommendations based off our conversation. Obviously we went with what he thought and we were so impressed. Now, the food-we started with mariscos. Seafood was fresh, cooked well, and the sausage was delicious. The broth was... "stop it" as my fiance exclaimed several times... from the man I never see excited about seafood. Rich and savory, with whole roasted garlic, and citrus notes from orange and lime, it's one of those things you must try to be transported to another place. My fiance had the coconut milk risotto with pork belly. Now I'm a risotto snob and it was one of the top 3 I've ever had inn my culinary adventures. Creamy, with the right tooth, not too sweet and complimented by big pieces of salty tender pork. So well balanced it can compete with any I've had. I had the jerk chicken which was a giant plate (can't wait for my leftovers). The chicken was dark and spicy, top it with the cold tomato salsa to cool the heat just perfectly. I'll dream of that combo... and let's just say, there's so many amazing elements- try their collard greens, you won't be sorry. Finally since i still had wine left- homemade desserts? Um, yes please how about a brownie with cheesecake and cherries on top? I wanted 4 of them. This is long which it deserves, but I'll end on this. Sioux Falls has a real treasure in this place, from start to finish and we can't wait to be back. Thank you for giving us a new "vacation spot" so close to home that is, without a doubt the best of SF.

Quite possibly the best atmosphere and aesthetic in all of Sioux Falls. I came for the Burger Battle, it was my first time ever being here and I was blown away. The freeze aren't made out of potatoes yet still tastes amazing, the house sauce is fantastic, and the burger was wonderful. They also had a hot sauce that had just the right amount of heat and tasted great. There are so many great things on their menu too. It's definitely a place I'm going to have to come back to.

I grew up in South Dakota and was back for a visit in July. My sister and l ate at Roots of Brasil, and it instantly became one of my favorite restaurants! I had the risotto and she had the grits-both were absolutely delicious. The menu is full of unique and tempting options, and the portions are generous— definitely enough for two meals. We went at an off time and were seated right away. The atmosphere and decor are beautiful, and the waitstaff was friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. I live in Portland, Oregon (a serious foodie city!), and there are only two Brazilian spots there-an all-you-can-eat rotisserie place and a food cart. I wish we had a restaurant like Roots of Brasil in Portland! I love discovering unique restaurants when I travel, and this one truly stood out. I can't wait to come back on my next visit!
