Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

I was very impressed with the ambiance of this restaurant. Loved all the rooster pictures on the wall! All the decor merged seamlessly and made the place look so put together. We were licky enough to sit near the chef and he (and the bartender) gave us drink recommendations and told us about their new food menu. The drinks were so delicious and well balanced. We also had the duck poutine which was very good. We will definitely be returning.

I literally came upon and found this place as I was taking a friend out for a birthday lunch…. First of all, I have a collection of roosters from all over the world!❤️❤️❤️ I’ve lived in NYC and Los Angeles for a total of 25 years, so the upscale vibe of Rusted Roost is my kind of place!! The food was incredible!! I had the tuna tartar and it brought back so many amazing memories of dining experiences from my travels! My friend had the beet salad and that too, was delicious and well plated!! Rusted Roost has a great bar and a good wine selection - the ambience was low key, fun and relaxing!! Gorgeous bathroom!! Well done!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

This was our first time at Rusted Roost. The atmosphere was romantic and the decor was interesting with a variant of pictures of roosters. But as the dinner went on, you could barely hear each other because there were just so much noise from other people talking. You could barely hear the music, but they had some ambiance music playing. Their Valentine's day feature listed some delicious sounding courses but we were only interested in the desert; I was something like a berry apple crumble. So we figured we'll save room for that. I noticed on the menu it said no substitutions, so I had to be particular since I didn't want anything with dairy since it could upset my stomach. We started our meal with the fried brussel sprouts, it had some sort of soy sesame glaze. When it came out, it was good, but not very crispy. It was mushy on the inside. For the main course I picked chicken Paprikash, with something like a chipotle cream sauce on the gnocchi. The chicken was sliced already and kind of dry, which I thought took a lot to do since it was dark meat. The gnocchi was good, not dense and mushy. My fiance got the seared scallops. I tasted it and the scallops them selves were pretty salty, almost like they had cured it in salt but let it sit too long before washing it. The truffles risotto was meh in flavor and the pea puree was only there for garnish. Julienned peppered apples were an interesting touch. After we finished with our entrees, we tried to order the dessert from the feature, but the waiter said that we would have had to order the entire feature since the servings were counted exactly for each featured menu. They didn't mention anything about having to order the entire feature to get the dessert went we sat down. I thought that was weird. They only had two desserts, so we ordered both the creme brulee and the bunt cake The creme brulee was odd tasting, and the bunt cake was super dense and claggy, the cream sauce they put on it was just sweet. It seemed as though this place just has a chef come and prepare the food and then they just reheat it. It wasn't cooked to order, so it's a major tell that the food wasn't prepared fresh. The brussel sprouts weren't crispy, the chicken was pre sliced and dry, the no substitutions and the precisely counted desserts are suspicious. Our bill was over $100 for what tasted like reheated food, kind of a disappointment.
