Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

Visited the Sage Room after a recommendation from another bar/restaurant. Made reservations for Wednesday night. We were welcomed and greeted as soon as we came in, the gentleman at the hostess desk was very friendly and energetic. Every single dish that came out was absolutely perfect. Our cocktails to start was the blackberry bramble which was delicious and a grapefruit cocktail , which I can’t remember the name, but it was also delicious. We had the bread with the side of honey butter and Hawaiian black sea salt and a red pepper olive oil. It had so much flavor, it had us wanting . We also had the tuna for appetizer and it did not disappoint. My meal was the fillet medium rare and it was cooked absolutely perfect and my husband had the ribeye, which was also perfect. Topped it off with turtle cheesecake and bread pudding which we’re both to die for and the espresso martinis were delicious. Our waiter Toby was phenomenal. I highly recommend him.

pretty good not great. all elements of the meal just never landed 5/5 but i would come back and try more menu items and experience another dinner. halibut special was well plated and presented but overcooked and needed salt. scallop dish was also plated beautifully but fried risotto (their take on arancini..) just really missed the mark for me. if you under cook risotto, then fry it, the result is very tough grains of rice.. starter caesar salad again, 4/5, seemed like romain was a few days old so a bit soggy. chocolate cocktail for dessert was good. wine by the glass just okay. again, can’t give them 5/5 because just not at that level and for the price, i was bummed

Last night was our first time dining at the Sage Room after all these years of wanting to go there. We were celebrating my birthday. We told the hostess this before we arrived when we arrived and still the waitress had no knowledge of this when we sat down. We let the waitress know it was my birthday. The food came out quickly initially, but the shrimp was not very good and the French onion soup that we were so looking forward to was not as good as expected . The waitress also forgot my sister’s appetizer salad. By the time she came back to the table for us to tell her this, we were already almost done and our dinner was coming, so we just said to skip it. I had the halibut special which was $60 for a huge Piece of fish, which was a very good piece of fish. It was just too big and it had a weird breaded crust on it, which I couldn’t decide was an Asian dish or an Italian dish. My husband had the Sage Room Benedict which he said was very good. All of our food came out warm, not hot. I think the waitress forgot about us because we were in the back. She then came back to the table and asked us if we wanted dessert and we said no. She held up the menu and said are you sure you don’t want something for your birthday? We thought that she was offering a free dessert for my birthday but when we got the check, we saw that she charged us for the crème brûlée. Which was weird because we had told her we didn’t want anything initially. Bottom Line is for $250 dinner for three people. We expected better service and better food.
