My husband and I were disappointed. I ordered one of the Chet’s selection/recommendation….. Black iron skillet seared bone in pork chop over fried okra and coastal rice grits. The grits were delicious. The okra was cooked perfectly, but the breading had zero seasoning. The big disappointment was truly the pork chop. It came out on my plate and was breaded. I don’t think black iron skillet seared means that it’s breaded. it didn’t say anywhere in the description that it was breaded. I expected a skillet seared pork chop and that is not what I got. The breading had a little to no seasoning. The pork chop itself had little to no seasoning and the breading slid off. It was supposed to be topped with a strawberry butter, which was pretty good but just it seeped into the breading. The meal was disappointing, particularly for a $41. My husband ordered one of the chef selections as well, it was their surf and turf. He received the steak and two scallops. His meal was $49.I would think you would get at least four scallops for that price. I will say that the steak was flavored well, despite the fact that I think it was described as a strip steak and it came out looking more like just a hunk of beef. He wanted the steak medium rare and it came out way more rare than medium rare so he had to send it back. All and all the meal was just disappointing. I’m hopeful that it was just a bad night and we can go back and try them again. Ambience is good, service was good. No other issues but the food that we received was not what was represented on the menu and the dishes that we ordered.

5 stars all the way around for Sophie’s Cork & Ale in uptown Lexington, NC. Atmosphere was warm and rustic, service was on point and the food was excellent. Jennifer had the Crab Cake sandwich and I had the Shrimp Ramen bowl which was delicious. We will definitely be back to try their other menu creations.

Wow! What an incredible find for Lexington. I moved here from downtown Phoenix a few months ago and have been searching for some high quality dining- Sophie’s delivered. Food is the most important factor for me and the menu here reminds me of the artistic quality I used to find in the city. Customer service comes next- I don’t care if you have the best food in town, if the service is bad, I’m never coming back. We have been treated with such kindness and prompt service at Sophie’s that you can feel that they want you to enjoy your time there. AJ and Gage are wonderful at what they do and our interactions with the rest of the staff have been nothing but delightful. Ambiance is another important factor as my husband and I enjoy our quality time through fine dining dates. The vibe is rustic, modern without giving up comfort with cushiony seats, cozy lighting and space between diners. Overall, this is my favorite hidden gem in the area and is well worth a visit for any occasion.
