Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

Food was good, i ordered a 4 egg vegetable omelette, with cheese. What I like most was the live entertainment. A waitress and a customer singing some of the old hits from the late 60's early 70's. Jimmy Ruffin, Smokey and the miracles, Aretha Franklin and more. I also like the motto on the wall and the back of eberyones hoodie "LETS EAT"

I visited the South Side 35 Diner early afternoon this Tuesday(10/28) at 1 pm. It was easy to find a parking space in the parking lot that was quite close to the entrance of the diner. Upon entering I only had to wait momentarily before the hostess led us to an available table. The diner had many types of seating ranging from bar seats, booths, and tables. It was almost full when I entered, but had cleared out a little by the time I left. The hostess gave us our menus and we were promptly greeted by a server who politely greeted himself. The diner was clean and the ambiance of the diner was inviting with bright open space. I ordered a latte with almond milk which was the only dairy option and a freshly squeezed orange juice. There were three menus presented which made it a bit overwhelming to choose the options, but of the three one was specifically seasonal. Looking at the menus kept me preoccupied until the server came back with the drinks around 5 minutes later. The latte wasn’t overly sweet and wasn’t too strong either. The orange juice was very delicious with orange pulp in it which I recommend. The food ordered was a “South side omelette” and steak with veggies which took around 20 minutes to come out. The food was quite pleasant though it lacked a bit of seasoning, so I added some salt to it. Overall, the cost came out to around $70 plus a 20% tip. The diner was a pleasant way to relax and enjoy a quick bite.

Enjoyed the music as well as others did. A waitress and a customer were singing. I said the roots from Cleb Bene must have grown up the street
