Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

I was absolutely starving and craving something different , so decided on Super Gyros. Best decision I made that day. The moment we walked in, the owner — who was running the whole place by himself like a one-man culinary superhero — greeted us like we were old friends. You could instantly feel how passionate he is about his food. He didn’t just take our order; he proudly walked us through the menu, explaining almost every dish like a proud parent talking about their overachieving children. The only “problem”? Trying to figure out what the heck to order. Everything sounded so good it should honestly come with a warning label: May cause extreme indecisiveness. We finally committed to the spicy beef gyro sandwich and the chicken shawarma, with a side of their rice and fries. And let me just say… OMG. I’m not exaggerating. Okay, maybe a little — but only because I physically don’t have the vocabulary to describe how good it was. The spicy beef gyro was juicy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The chicken shawarma was tender and packed with seasoning that made every bite better than the last. And that hot sauce he makes? That sauce deserves its own fan club. It added a kick I didn’t even know I needed in my life. The rice was fluffy, the fries were golden and crispy — basically everything on that plate was doing its job and doing it well. All I can say is don’t skip out on this place. Go hungry. Go curious. And maybe go with a backup plan in case you fall in love with everything and can’t decide what to order

I LOVE this restaurant and I miss it dearly. I lived in Modesto for ten years and enjoyed Super Gyro many many times. The food is delicious, and the owner is an extremely generous and hospitable guy. I'm so glad they survived the awful 2020-21 season that closed so many small privately-owned restaurants. Super Gyro is wonderful! My favorite meal here was the teriyaki chicken pita with mashed potato bites. Great tzatziki sauce!

I’ve had the pleasure of dining at Super Gyros for over 10 years, and it never disappoints. The food is consistently exceptional—fresh, flavorful, and prepared with care. The owner is one of the kindest and most generous people you’ll ever meet. Today, I arrived early for my order, and he insisted I enjoy a drink while I waited—just another example of the warm hospitality that makes this place special. I’m so grateful our community has supported Super Gyros all these years because it means many more visits to this incredible restaurant.
