Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

The restaurant was clean, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the food was delicious! We loved everything we tried, including the thali, tandoori, and momos. Their mint chutney was perfect with the samosas. The cook was also able to accommodate a special request, and I am so thamom's. Everything was incredible and the portions are generous. This place is worth the drive and I will be sure to make it again.

My boyfriend and I love Indian food and wanted to try this restaurant. Walking in was an experience in itself, we almost turned around, and honestly we should have. The restaurant was empty, and everyone was crowded around the bar, the only patrons were men. We decided to take it to go because we still wanted to try it and give it a chance. I was stared at the whole time, even when my boyfriend placed himself between me and the staring patrons. On the way home the food smelled great. But the butter chicken and chicken tikka masala were so sweet and sugary! It was like a dessert! The lentil soup was full of lentil shells. The only good things were the friendly staff and the cool tree they have as decor. Too expensive for a bad experience and bad food.

The food was phenomenal and service first rate. It was our first time to Swatara Restaurant and Bar and we will return. In addition, we will recommend to our friends. Great experience for us!
