Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

some of the best customer service I’ve had ever. I walked in as a small group of 3 to try this place for the first time and the cashier working there was so welcoming. since we had never tried tahini before he gave us recommendations and also allowed us to sample some items like the meat and sauces. the food is also amazing every time i go with generous portions as well.

We are all huge fans of the fries and the cinnamon pita chips. I pick some up for my group meeting every week. The fries are always made-to-order hot. Delicious.

Gotta be the nicest place on campus, I walked in and was immediately showered with big welcomes from the kitchen. Nothing about their cooking is even close to subpar, considering you can watch them make some of the tastiest food in ucsd right in front of you from behind the counter. Everyone was clearly happy to be there and extremely chill, happy to give suggestions and cook up heavenly halal. the chefs obviously made their food with effort and passion as opposed to following a recipe like some strip mall fast food bloc, not to mention their luxury soda fountain. I could come back over and over again for one of those drinks on their own. Every cent of the $15 i spent on my chicken shawarma was worth it, people who complain about the price at this place clearly just don't like enjoying good food and should go eat 3 dollar frozen-then-microwaved beef patties at their local supercommerical burger joint instead of wasting Tahini's time with their complaint reviews. 12/10 is an understatement. edit: place is so dam good i had to come back and add to my review because i feel like i lowballed them. It took less than 5 visits for some of the staff to already recognise me by face and name, these guys clearly cook for people and not for paychecks. Even though I came in late tonight the remaining guys were still more than happy to to handle my order, and even threw in a side on the house. i legitimately believe i've almost never been to a more inviting place to eat in my life, if you don't like this place you seriously have to get checked at a doctor.
