The Tamarack Marketplace is so awesome! The architecture is so unique. Although I went on a weekday in Feb. 2026, a wintry day, the landscaping was meticulous. There is an open-air art gallery featuring large installations and a pretty wooden swing. Local West Virginian artists have their various art mediums on display within the Caperton Center building, and in the grounds. There are several picnic areas, as well. I saw honeys, quilts, snacks, wines, clothing, shoes, brooms, place mats, door mats, paintings, a glass-blowing studio with a viewing area, a wood-work studio, a book store, instruments, furniture, decor, dishes, a cafeteria, and so much more! The staff is so friendly and well-informed. Top-notch art is on display, and for sell, at this wonderful gallery/art market/gift shop. What an impressive place to stop and admire/buy such beautiful art!

Beautiful place with unique, one of a kind items, displays that peeks into the artists of West Virginia. It's a circle walk thru of art, gifts and trinkets of featured locals and vendors native to West Virginia. Even featuring local food in a cute cafe style eatery, homemade ice cream and wines. I wouldn't dare call the tamarak a gift shop. I even got to experience watching artists blow glass and make a cat. When I say beautiful and art I feel as if I'm understating the tamarak. History and heritage surrounds the building. If you have the opportunity to stop I'd say take it! It's an experience worth having.

This has been a tourist attraction in wv off of I-77 for as long as I can remember. I’ve stopped here many times over the years and love to look at all the beautiful artistic creations from the people of my awesome state. Today I stopped here while I’m on a mission to find all the “almost heaven” swings with my husband. The building and grounds are beautiful and unique.
