Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

This was my first time visiting. When I walked in, no one greeted me and the staff were on their phones. I was seated and decided to give it a chance. The server took the time to explain everything on the menu, which I really appreciated. Unfortunately, the service was slow, and I didn’t feel the chicken or rice were very fresh. On the positive side, the fish was delicious, as was the fasah, and the bread was absolutely scrumptious. Throughout the meal, I had to keep waving someone down whenever I needed something, as the staff were often on their phones. When we paid, we were not given a receipt, which made me uncomfortable. I would return just for the bread and fasah, but overall I think the restaurant really needs to work on improving their service

The food was amazing and the hosts was also amazing she was very kind and quick with her service. We ordered the sea bass fish (which tasted really good) and fahsa (tasted really good also). We were served the lamb broth with a squeeze of lemon, it was so warming for a cold Chicago day. All in all really great place with great food and service, highly recommend.

A friend and I came across Tanour after a good hike at the close by Swallow Cliff Woods. It offers Yemeni food and it was my first time experiencing it. The host took good care of us including suggesting a few choices for me, a vegetarian. It's otherwise a meat eaters paradise, with a lot of lamb. Their bread is simply awesome too.
