Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

First time I ate here was good but I guess you realize the imperfections the more you visit a establishment. The food seems to inconsistent. I was very unhappy with our waiter he seemed offended when I asked how much a special platter would cost. I think its normal to ask a price for something before ordering. Anyways 3 eggs scrambled and a pancake was going to cost $22 is it me or are these diners taking advantage of patrons trying to have some food. Long story short I was disappointed with the staff and didn't like how some girl with very long hair didnt have anything on it. This isn't a hair salon its a restaurant and all hair should be covered and staff trained with hospitality. Not looking and speaking about patrons in Spanish. Won't come back .

The Tenafly Classic Diner at 16 West Railroad Avenue in Tenafly, NJ, has been a gem in the community since the 1950s, blending classic American cuisine with creative twists. I stopped by recently and tried the Cheesesteak Burger with their homemade cheese sauce, served with fries and onion rings, and I was blown away. (I take mine without a bun) Everything was fresh and flavorful, but the onion rings really stole the show—perfectly crisp, golden brown, and seasoned to perfection. You can tell they take pride in the quality of their food. The service was friendly, and the vibe inside felt welcoming and nostalgic, yet modern. This place has that classic diner charm with a contemporary menu that keeps you excited to try something new. Highly recommend for anyone in the area looking for a great meal and a cozy atmosphere!

Tenafly Classic Diner 16 W. Railroad Ave. Tenafly, NJ 07470 Buffalo Chicken Egg Rolls French Dip Vodka Chicken Parmesan Funfetti Cake Cookie Monster Wild Shake In downtown Tenafly is a local diner that serves a variety of dishes. The buffalo chicken egg rolls is a fantastic starter. The egg rolls packed with seasoned chicken and are served with blue cheese. Take a dip with the tender French dip. Be sure to dip your hoagie into the au jus. The homemade potato chips are hot and freshly made, which is a great side dish. For a diner, the chicken Parmesan was superior! There were two full size cutlets along with penne pasta. The sauce was thick and creamy; if I could, I would have ate the sauce by the gallon! The mozzarella cheese didn’t have a golden brown char appearance, but don’t let that fool you. The melted mozzarella blended perfectly with the cutlet, pasta, and sauce! The Funfetti cake was an excellent dessert; the cake was served chilled with layers of frosting in between the spongy, cake. My minor critique is that I wish the donut hole wasn’t sliced as that compromises the appearance. Usually, I’m not a fan of wild shakes as the toppong is too overbearing. However, this does not apply with the Cookie Monster because the sugar cookie is not too powerful or sweet. In addition, the vanilla milkshake is dyed aqua blue to match the iconic Sesame Street character. The Cookie Monster design is very attractive and realistic. This was a fantastic experience re-visiting this restaurant. #tenaflyclassicdiner #buffalochickeneggrolls #frenchdip #vodkachickenparmesan #funfetticake #cookiemonstershake #wildshake #milkshake #eats #localspots #foodstagram #foodreview #njfoodie
