Tldr, Sorely disappointed. Everything was dry like it'd been cooked earlier and left out, flavorless, and just.... meh. First, the boudin egg rolls were soggy... the dough was tough, like it had been cooked earlier in the day and reheated. It was tasty, though, I'll give it that. Then, the shrimp platter I ordered came with a side salad... that was delivered to me as soon as I sat down, but no silverware was provided. I got up and started hunting for silverware, ended up having to get a set from a stack at the check in area, only to get back to my table and discover it was wrapped dirty. My partner went hunting and brought back five or six sets, just in case. The shrimp was good sized shrimp, but a little soggy. Then, the crawfish etouffee turned out to be either half cooked or half dried out, as some of the rice was dry and crunchy. The etouffee itself was good, but not great. A waitress came by and asked if we needed anything, and left before we could answer. Nothing seemed to have spice to it. The salad I'd expect to be... ya know... salad-y. But a creole place should have creole flavor. Nobody seems happy to be working here. It's a frog themed restaurant, I expected it to be upbeat and cheerful. It is not. It feels like a place dreams go to die. Which makes me really sad because I read the story about Fred online and I am emotionally attached and invested in that frog dang it. Speaking of frogs, the frog enclosures are dirty enough I cant see the frogs. On the topic of cleanliness, the interior is tidy and well kept, aside from sitting dust and cobwebs on windowsills, and windows that are really dirty. There is food splatter on the wall beside my booth that reminds me a bit of colorful fireworks. If i had a frame I could make it look intentional. Oh, and two thirds of the lights inside are all off.... which makes it feel dingier than I'd expect. Honestly I feel like a few pool tables and a dart board would be all it needs to turn the place into a dive. Well, that and decent booze. Overall, I really wanted this to be a better experience than it was. Im disappointed. We've been driving for several hours and made a detour just to try this place, considering all the raving reviews. I will say, the layout is pretty neat. And I appreciate the souvenir cups and the ability to refill my cup myself. Though, the sweet tea wasn't very tea. The bathroom is horrendous. There's no tp, the floors are sticky enough I'd have to be a frog to find it sanitary. The handrails are sticky, the toilet seat is broken. I hope if we ever pass this way again, we will get to see happy employees and taste that "great food and fun" that Fred dreamed about. Cause honestly, I was chasing Fred's dream too.

The service was good, frog po'boy was delicious but to much fat for my taste. Hush puppies were overcooked, couldn't eat them. I order them to go with a bottle of local beer, they served me the beer already opened so I decided to eat in . Plenty of parking around the restaurant.

The Froghead Diner is the real deal. Good food made by good people. Everything was hot, fresh and delicious. Our waitress Kat took great care of us. She was very kind and professional. The menu has a variety of very tasty options. Something for everyone! You can taste that the ingredients were fresh and made to order. 5 stars!
