We planned a trip to NOLA, and made a point of passing through Laurel on the way back. We thought it would be cool to stay at the Buzzard's Roost as we had seen it on Home Town, and we really like historic hotels and buildings. We booked the Laurel, MS room (it faces the train tracks), and it's been one of the best hotel experiences we've had. If you've seen it on Home Town (season 7, episode 7), it's basically exactly like that. High ceilings, 3 large windows, table lamps, comfortable bed, and the pillows were so nice I actually ordered a set for our house (thanks, Troy!). The color palette and decorating is warm, inviting, and comfortable. The shower and sink have excellent water pressure, not the dribble you find in a chain hotel. The towels are soft, not the sandpaper you get at a typical Hilton. It's really hard to say enough good things about Buzzard's Roost. I think our only regret might be not staying for another night or two. Laurel is about 6 1/2 hours from home, and if we travel somewhere that takes us near Laurel again, we'll definitely stay at the Buzzard's Roost.

We Came to Laurel and stayed at The Buzzard's Roost because of our live for Hometwn on HGTV. The Laurel room was just as shown on the show, and it was such a cozy, comfortable space! Location of the inn was perfect, right in the hub of downtown Laurel, close to the Scotsman Mercantile and the Woodshop, as well as several restaurants. We took the Hometown Tour (by golfcart!), and got so much history of Laurel as well as a dose of good humor from our guide, Robert Hill. Just be sure if you have only one day in Laurel, it's not a Sunday, as most businesses are closed or have limited hours.
