Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

Classic diner with great service and good food. Stopped in for breakfast and settled on the Big Biscuit Breakfast with hashbrowns. The coffee was delicious. Service was great and I loved the old school western vibes. They seem to do a lot of door dash orders as people were constantly picking up orders.

First of all, Tiare is the best waitress around. We all left here highly caffeinated and soooo full. Cross your fingers she’s here when you come. My buddy went with the chicken fried steak, but I got the country platter - same thing but all chopped up, covered in sausage gravy, hash browns, 2 eggs AND a side of pumpkin pancakes! And we tried their “scone” that’s like a zeppoli back in Jersey. Rolling out of here very happy.

We hit up The Original Sunrise Cafe for that true old-school breakfast vibe, and it totally delivered. The place has that cozy, homey feel with friendly locals chatting at the counter—exactly what you want from a longstanding Boise favorite. The host was outstanding: warm, welcoming, and super efficient. She greeted us right away with a big smile, got us seated quickly and made us feel like regulars from the start. Genuine hospitality that sets the tone perfectly. I ordered the Denver omelet, and it was fantastic—fluffy eggs stuffed with plenty of diced ham, green peppers, and onions, all cooked just right with that golden edge and melty cheese. Came with crispy hash browns (or home fries) and toast on the side. Hearty, flavorful, and spot-on for a classic diner breakfast. Portions were generous without being excessive. My partner got the cinnamon roll, and it was pure heaven: massive, fresh, gooey with that perfect cinnamon swirl and icing that was warm and drippy. Not too sugary—just indulgent and soft in the middle. Easily one of the best we've had, and it paired amazingly with the strong, hot coffee. Service was attentive and friendly throughout (quick refills, no hovering), and everything felt made with care. If you're in Boise craving authentic, no-fuss diner food with great portions and that welcoming small-town charm, Sunrise Cafe is the spot. We'll definitely return—highly recommend this gem!
