Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

Great place, love bringing family and friends here. The food was excellent, I enjoyed the mixed kebab platter and chicken lollipop especially. The Indo-Chinese dishes also hit the spot! The owner, Austin, was also was very caring and respectful. Super funny guy, and great place. Totally worth a trip.

I recently visited The Spice Room in Elmwood Park, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. If you are looking for authentic Indian cuisine with a modern, welcoming vibe, this is the place to be. The Food: We started with the Gobi Manchurian (or perhaps the Chilli Cauliflower), which had the perfect balance of spice and tang—highly addictive! For the main course, the Paneer Butter Masala was incredibly rich and creamy, pairing perfectly with the fluffy Basmati Rice. You can’t go wrong with their bread; the Butter Naan was warm, soft, and had that perfect slight char from the tandoor. To wash it all down, the Mango Lassi was thick, fresh, and the perfect sweet contrast to the spices. The Atmosphere: The restaurant itself is beautiful. I loved the deep blue accent walls and the elegant floral arrangements—it creates a warm, upscale feel that’s perfect for a date night or a nice family dinner. The space is clean, well-lit, and the service was attentive and friendly. Verdict: Elmwood Park has a lot of dining options, but The Spice Room stands out for its quality and presentation. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more of the menu!

We got to the restaurant on Valentine's Day at around 8, and it was an hour before we were seated. The restaurant had more take out orders than one can imagine. The restaurant space is small so there are fewer tables but it was still overwhelming for the staff. I hope they had more staff. I did like that we had to wait so long but the owner was extremely polite and cognizant that the wait was not ideal. I must say though the noodles and Manchurian was so worth the wait. I absolutely love good Indo Chinese, and so very few restaurants actually know how to make it. I wasn't huge fan of curry but as I said just the noodles are absolutely worth for me. The naan was flavorful, and gulab jamun were very good in taste. I hope they put on some better ways of reservations and handling takeouts as well as more staff. But none of that stops me from visiting again for sure. The decor is very pleasing and calming too.
