Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

I came down from Chicago as a tourist. I have never experienced fried sliced mushrooms till I got here. I don’t think I could ever go back to whole mushrooms. The batter was so light and flavorful that’s including the onion rings. I originally got the garlic cheese carts. They were so delicious that I ended up ordering later on in our meal the spicy cheese curds. A spicy cheese curds Will creep up on you and the heat will stay with you but in a good way and not as a punishment. I asked the waitress about the batter and she had said that everything is battered by hand. Before I go onto our main meal, I have to rave about the ranch! Thick tangy housemade; I wanted to take this back to Chicago. The Warf Burger was delicious but the Canadian bacon put it over the top and the grilled onions were a touch of perfection. The mashed potatoes was a bit basic but that gravey was absolutely fire! The buffalo chicken horseshoe was thick! So much cheese (who’s complaining?)! The chicken was moist and cooked perfectly. The buffalo sauce was a great contrast with all that cheese. They serve Pepsi drinks.

I went to this restaurant for a special occasion. I have never been there before. The outside of restaurant is okay looking but what is important is the good, service, and atmosphere. The inside was a little cute. It has a nautical theme. It also had a cozy atmosphere; not stuffy and formal but casual. When we all sat down it took awhile to be seen by a waitress. That was fine. We finally got our drinks ordered. I did order one cocktail and it was NOT good at all!!! The we ordered appetizers, fried mushrooms and cheese curds. The fried mushrooms were good but cheese curds were okay. I ordered the maple bacon and onion burger with fried and onion rings. The burger was okay, bland in taste. Fries were good and so we're the onion rings. The waitress did keep up with our drinks, but she was uninterested and lack of personality or care showed. She didn't check to see how we enjoyed food or make comment on our special occasion... Overall, I was unimpressed. It meal was over$100 for 3 people. Yes we bought two alcoholic beverages, 2 appetizers, and 3 meals. So not super expensive but it was costly for mediocre meal. I was excited to come here and it was a little of a let down with the whole experience. I have pictures of the food and will try to add if later.

We had a lovely meal at The Wharf in Decatur, located behind a gas station by the post office. I've had this restaurant on my must-try list for a while now, as I always enjoy venturing out on road trips to discover new dining spots. Upon entering, you get to choose your own seats, and there's a cozy fireplace in the center of the restaurant to keep you warm during the winter months. Our waitress was super friendly and efficient, and our food arrived promptly. I opted for the fish sandwich, which was absolutely delicious, especially when paired with their unique and tasty tartar sauce. Everyone at my table enjoyed their meals, and we will definitely be returning to The Wharf in the future. A great dining experience overall! #bucketlist
