Visiting Palacios for the weekend and my first impression on driving up is that THIS is where the locals come. The interior is simply decorated and clean, with large pictures of local scenes adorning the walls. Our waiter, Gabriel, was quick to welcome us and eager with recommendations upon learning it was our first visit. The plates were presented without delay, piping hot and well seasoned, but NOT overly seasoned. The grilled shrimp were nicely charred, but not tough or rubbery. And the grilled vegetables were about as good as I've ever eaten. Great experience, great food and an excellent staff that are quick to attention, without being overbearing. We will definitely be back. Well done guys. EDIT: seeing large portions of banana pudding being delivered to tables as we were getting ready to pay the bill, we inquired about getting one to go........ only to be told that reservations for the banana pudding have to be received by 11am, because it's generally sold out by then. Note to self; call ahead for banana pudding.

This time around, I had asked for some chili oil for my dish, what I was given, was the best chili oil I have had in my life. When I asked what brand it was, I was informed that it was made in house. I have always had to settle for chili oil of lesser quality but now I think I have found the perfect one. If you ever start selling it by the jar, consider me your first buyer.

We came to Palacios for the weekend and stopped here for dinner. Facility was nice and clean, servers were kind and attentive. Food was very delicious and we were fully satisfied. For a family of four and for two appetizers, the bill was in the $70+ range but worth it for the quality and portion size. Will come back for sure!
