This casual counter-serve spot has won over reviewers with its commitment to serving high-quality, plant-based food on real dishware. The nicely packed Burrito is a standout, with some reviewers appreciating the effort to calculate and display the calories of their dishes. The fried cauliflower has also been a hit, with one reviewer's picky eater son finishing the whole order. While the atmosphere and staff are generally friendly, some reviewers have noted that the food can be a letdown. The Masala Curry Bowl, in particular, has been a disappointment. To plan your visit, be aware that wait times and reservations may not be necessary, but it's worth checking the hours to ensure they align with your schedule.

Excerpts

Not vegan, just came for good food. Expectations met! First, a casual counter-serve place that still serves on real dishware. Maybe it’s the places I’ve been going, but I swear that’s been disappearing the last 5 years. I greatly appreciate places that make the effort to calculate the calories of their dishes and display them. Nicely packed Burrito with tax & tip was $19.50, but that’s not terrible in this economy for 900 cal worth of food. Service was fast & friendly. The pico de gallo gave the burrito the right amount of spiciness. Small detail, but I LOVE they have one/two-person sized bench seating and tables at just the right height. Also a huge menu with lots of good looking things. The ‘beef’ was tasty; not sure I could’ve mistaken it for meat, but it was great as its own food. Lastly, location is king and this is near the best you can get. 4 blocks from Pike Place, 1 block from Westlake, 5ish from the Convention Center, right next to the up-coming Barnes & Noble. Now have a new go-to in downtown!

Wow!! My mind is truly blown away! You would never know you were eating vegan food! My son who has autism and is a very picky eater, took a bite of the fried cauliflower and finished the whole order lol, this was the first time he’s eaten any vegetable willingly!! So wonderful!! Everything my family and I tried was DELICIOUS!!The customer service was exceptional, Andrea really made us feel like valued customers and she even told me about the student discount when she saw my teenaged son. I left a review of this place 3 years ago but couldn’t edit it so I deleted it and started over, the food has improved significantly since then. I highly recommend trying Veggie Grill if you’re curious about vegan food or if you’re looking for a healthy, fresh, guilt free option.

At first I was really excited to try out the place, it looks fresh and I made my decision based off the photos and experience. However, I was disappointed. The atmosphere of the place is good, offering a fast yet casual feel. The staff was friendly, too. However, my main issue stems entirely from the food. I was originally hoping to try the Masala Curry Bowl, but the staff informed me that the menu had changed. I wasn't told why, but it was. Even looking at their menu through online, majority of it keeps changing. Why isn’t it stable? I ended up ordering three things: the VG Classic Burger the Truffle Mac + Cheese, and the Sesame Tofu Super Greens. The burger felt watered down and was completely bland of flavor, no seasoning whatsoever. Moreover, it was served cold. The salad (Tofu Super Greens) had only a few vegetables sparsely thrown on top. Eating the salad, I could tell that both the vegetables and the tofu were not fresh. The leaves were slightly discolored, and the rest tasted almost moldy. The truffle mac + cheese was the item I was most excited for, but it was not good. There were only a small amount of truffles, as if it was seasoning on top, and the flavor was immediately gone within a few bites. The cheese itself wasn’t good. It tasted like plastic while the pasta became a little hard from the cheese sauce. The worst part was that everything was small portioned. I’m never coming back here. For a place that changes its menu and labels itself as “fresh” and healthy, this place is the opposite, which makes unhealthy places look appealing. At least with those choices, you feel like you’re getting your money's worth and not some fake nutrients. I don’t know what people like about this restaurant, but this was certainly not it for me.
