Vientiane's cozy atmosphere and comforting dishes have reviewers singing its praises. The Banh-Xeo (fried crepe with veggies) and king soup (Lao style coconut curry broth over vermicelli) are standout favorites, paired perfectly with a pot of jasmine tea. This hidden gem's warm ambiance and kid-friendly menu make it an ideal spot for a family dinner or a date night. Be prepared for crowds, especially if you don't make a reservation. Reviewers note that the restaurant can get busy, especially around peak hours. However, the BYOB policy and cute dine-in area with games and coloring paper for little ones make it a great spot to visit.

Excerpts

No joke one of the best restaurants in Philadelphia. Love this place. Cozy, comforting, and pretention-free. I usually get Tom yum and a curry but this time I went with Banh-Xeo (fried crepe with veggies) and the king soup (Lao style coconut curry broth over vermicelli). Those dishes and a pot of jasmine tea had me feeling like I'd taken a day at a spa. I'll leave room for dessert next time 😸

Hidden Gem we stumbled upon on Valentines Day. We just saw a show and decided to walk around the neighborhood and we saw it and went in. We were seated quickly but once we left it started to get super busy. So it may be a place you’ll need to make a reservation but again we went on Valentines Day around 5pm while the sun was still out and we were seated immediately. We would go back to this place over and over. It looks small but they have much more seating in the back where you can’t see. We had pork steamed dumplings which were smaller than we thought, we could’ve had 2 orders of them and been fine honestly. Then I had grilled salmon in the sweet basil sauce. I want to be eating that all the time. We also both had Thai Iced Tea with Half and Half. I had 2 glasses it was so delicious, I mean that will get you hooked. Overall we truly enjoyed our experience and will be back.

THE. BEST. Vientiane has the best food, and are heavy on take-out, but they also have a little cute dine-in area with games and coloring paper for little ones; a shareable and kid-friendly menu, as well as vegetarian and vegan options. Cute ambiance too, and BYOB. Perfect cold weather date night spot under the el. Kenzo is not a bad area like suburbanites say, and the food is SUPERB.
