Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

Amazing dinner in a historic Montana gem! We had the salmon, steak, and crème brûlée . Everything was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The salmon was tender and fresh, the steak juicy and seasoned just right, and the crème brûlée was the perfect sweet ending. The atmosphere is warm and charming, with a real sense of Montana history. Highly recommend this place if you’re in Helena!

This was our first time here, the atmosphere is so welcoming! Such a cute restaurant. Our waitress was Cindy and she was great! We had the Brie, mussels, ribeye and duck. The risotto that is served with the duck is AMAZING. Over all the food was very tasty and delicious wine. Definitely a fun spot for date night or a special occasion. Thanks to Cindy for taking such great care of us!

I was hoping that after reading some negative reviews that people were just crazy. Unfortunately they were right. My family and I can all agree we would never return. The steak was cooked well, but tasted like someone dumped a bucket of salt over the top. I couldn’t even finish my steak it was so salty. The potatoes and veggies were almost cold. The seafood pasta might have been the worst pasta I ever had. 0 flavor, it was like noodles with seafood, water, and a tablespoon of milk. For such a small menu, everything should taste incredible in my opinion. To charge $60 a plate and provide this kind of service is crazy. If you want a good steak or meal with fresh local ingredients for a responsible price, the Union is the place to go in Helena.
