Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

Whenever we are in the Tubac area, we head to the Wisdom's Cafe. It is usually closed on Sunday and Mondays. There is free off street parking near the restaurant. It is a popular place and can be quite crowded at times, but we have always been seated quickly. There is covered out door seating as well. This long time family restaurant has a fun atmosphere and a super friendly staff. The menu is prumarily Mexican dishes with some other standard items as well. Portions are generous and prices are reasonable. Be sure to save room for the dessert Fruit Burros (unbelievable!) Always worth a detour!

We each had a chimichanga (1 shredded beef and 1 ground beef with green sauce). - fantastic and filling. We also tried the cherry fruit burro - highly recommend! It was an added treat to eat outside in January.

Best Mexican food south of Tucson with amazing history and ambiance. There is a reason it survived since 1944.
