We’ve been making the drive up here from Northern Virginia for a few years now and every time , I’m grateful that the taste has been consistently good. Grateful because most other places around here start out being good and then go downhill quickly! Not this place. The closest thing to authentic South Indian food around here / you can’t go wrong with the rava dosa, the uttapam, the rasa vada (crunchy and the perfect rasam) - even their Chole batura is so good! Finish it all with the perfect filter coffee . We’ll hopefully be coming here for years in the future too!

Authentic, original South Indian restaurant with a variety of vegetarian options. We had the pakoras, poori, woodland special dosa, noodles for kids along with Lassi. Everything was delicious and the service was quick. Only complaint was that the Chai ordered at the end was a bit watered down.

We recently hosted our daughter’s Arangetram and chose Woodlands in Gaithersburg to cater the event — and we couldn’t be happier with that decision! The event was held at a local school auditorium with some logistical challenges, including two separate servings: a round of snacks during a 15-minute intermission and a full dinner at the conclusion of the performance. The team from Woodlands, led by Anand, handled everything with incredible professionalism, efficiency, and grace. During the brief intermission, they seamlessly served over 100 guests, ensuring everyone was taken care of promptly while maintaining order and helping guests return to their seats on time. It was a tall ask, and they executed it flawlessly. Following the performance, they presented an entirely different, beautifully prepared dinner spread. Every item was fresh, flavorful, and thoroughly enjoyed by our guests. Beyond just the food, their coordination with the school staff for setup and cleanup was smooth and thoughtful. They even neatly packed up the leftovers for us to take home — a small but deeply appreciated gesture. We are so grateful to Anand and the entire Woodlands team for their dedication, attention to detail, and exceptional service that made our special day all the more memorable. Highly recommend them for any event — big or small — if you’re looking for authentic, delicious South Indian cuisine paired with outstanding service.
