Diners overwhelmingly call out the signature dish as the must-order. The vibe reads as vegan restaurant — service is consistently described as warm and unhurried. Common gotcha: queues form at peak times — go early or late.

Excerpts

Got the beef bone broth, and it was delicious. Wide variety of fresh options to choose from, and they cook it for you very fast. However some of the meats and veg needed to be restocked which took more time than I wanted.

This was my first time having malatang at a restaurant, and it was a great experience! There is a large selection of ingredients you can add to your bowl, such as veggies, noodles, tofu, meat, and seafood. My favorites were the crystal noodles, bean curd strips, and beef (I chose the less fatty one, and it was super tender). There’s also a little station where you can add fresh toppings/make your own dipping sauce just like at hot pot. I got the classic herbal beef bone broth, which was pretty mild but I added chili paste from the dipping sauce bar to make it spicy. The broth was amazing quality — silky smooth and really flavorful. Each ingredient was perfectly cooked in the broth, and it was a super cozy meal overall. The service was great too, and the interior is really nice. I’ll definitely come back again, especially in the colder weather!

Best hot pot place in the area. $15 (1 pound) order gets you a free bowl of rice, easy to hit if you're cool with leftovers or splitting a meal. Good soup. As a plus, their to-go containers are well-constructed. And shoutout to the cashier for his proficiency in Mandarin!
